Every day I got to watch the amazing talents of Julia Stiles, David Cross, America Fererra, Erinn Hayes, Rachel Boston, Jeff Grace, Kevin Brennan, Blaise Miller and Todd Berger work their magic. It was better than any acting class I could have hoped to attend. The days were hot (seriously it was the hottest week on record in LA), there was time constraints, a little bit of Drama and of course everything wasn't perfect but at the same time it kind of was.
Half way through the shoot it was time to film my part. I was a ball of nerves and excitement and I can honestly say it was the most fun I've ever had. Because I had spent the first week and a half getting to know everyone, it wasn't as scary or nerve-wracking as I thought it would be. It was just so much friggin fun!
Once the film wrapped, we had one heck of a party and then I went home, back to my "day job" and back to working on getting the next gig.
2012 was the year of festivals. I went to so many I can't even remember them all but the highlights being the Edmonton Film Festival where we were the closing night gala film (and we won Audience Choice!) and the Whistler Film Fest where I had to take the reigns as I was the only one able to support the film there.
Then of course there was this past week. Literally the craziest 10 days of my life. I flew to LA for the opening of the film at the Los Feliz 3 where we did 2 Q&A's on Friday, 4 on Saturday and one final one on Sunday. To be together with the cast was amazing and to watch the crowd's reaction to our film was incredible. There's something about seeing your name on the big screen that makes it seem like all that hard work finally has a payoff. After a whirl wind LA trip it was home for a few days and then off to Seattle where we premiered to a near sold out crowd!
And now I'm home. A year and a half after we started this journey it seems to have run its course. I'll full of all sorts of emotions at the moment. It was the greatest experience of my professional life. It taught me so much about filmmaking and about myself as an actor. I'm sad that its over but I'm excited to see what the future holds for me. If this experience has taught me anything it's that I love my career. I love being an actor and everything that comes along with it. Can't wait to see what happens next!
Thanks to everyone for being part of the journey.
